At 102 years old, we are one of the UK’s oldest housing associations.
We manage over 1,500 homes within a 25-mile radius of Letchworth Garden City, including nearly 200 homes in rural areas of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
We have a strong commitment to building and strengthening communities, while also supporting our residents.
Find a Home
Click here for more information about how to register for housing, and to find out how we work in partnership with North Herts District Council and North Herts Homes to provide good quality rented and shared ownership properties (through the Home4u scheme) for people who are unable to rent or buy privately.
There will be no bidding for properties via the Home4U website between 13th February '14 and 3rd March '14 while a new Common Housing Allocations Scheme is introduced. This could affect your eligibility for housing - you will receive a letter if this is the case.
Taking place at North Herts College in Stevenage, join our 5 week Eat Healthy Cookery course.
Every year we visit our estates and streets in order to check on the communal areas, environment and general upkeep. Why not come along and let us know what you think of your neighbourhood?
Check here for links to resources to help you manage your winter fuel bills, information on organisations that may be able to help if you are struggling to keep warm, and a link to an Energy Switch organisation which has been set up for tenants.
At Howard Cottage, we've been investing in the local community for more than a century, so we seized the opportunity to enhance the life of a local person with learning difficulties.
With more than 1,500 properties on our books, when we post information out to residents, it’s always a logistical challenge.
Knit and natter for the fish and chips babies...
In some impoverished areas of the world, newborn babies are called "fish and chips babies" because many have no clothes or blankets, so are sent home from hospital wrapped in newspaper.
You can now find the most recently updated versions of our Residents' Handbook and Shared Owners' Handbook in the Publications section of the website.
Many residents will now be affected by the changes to welfare benefits which took affect from 1st April 2013. For more information click here. For information on our Money Advice Service please click here.
