Howard Cottage one of the top housing associations in England

The results of a nationwide analysis of housing association performance put Howard Cottage right at the top of the league table.

Published in the Housing Quality Network in February, the analysis compares the scores of English housing associations for a group of five key performance indicators published by the Tenant Services Authority (TSA) for 2008/09.

John Welch, Chief Executive of the Howard Cottage Housing Association, is delighted with the results of the analysis. He said: “This really is excellent news. Howard Cottage and Warrington were the only two housing associations in the country to achieve the ‘top-performer’ rating across all five key performance indicators.

“The Housing Quality Network is a very well-respected consultancy. It is very pleasing to be recognised by this independent organisation as one of the best registered social landlords in England.”

The five areas that were put under the microscope during the analysis are all very important to Howard Cottage:

  • The amount of housing stock that is vacant and available for letting
  • The turn-round between vacating a property and re-letting it
  • Rent arrears levels
  • Resident satisfaction on the repair and maintenance front
  • The overall condition of the properties, which should meet the Government’s Decent Homes standard and energy efficiency requirements.

John added: “I’d like to offer my congratulations to the Howard Cottage team and to thank them for continually striving to provide excellent services and facilities for all our residents."
