Neighbour of the Year award 2012

We want to continue to celebrate all that’s great about neighbourliness and the award is a perfect way to say ‘thank you’ to a neighbour whose kindness has made a real difference to your life or that of fellow neighbours. Neighbourly acts of kindness include things like:

  • Lending a hand at a time of crisis
  • Helping you with your garden
  • Doing the shopping for you when you can’t
  • Looking after your children so that you can have a break or go out to work
  • Just being there when you need someone to talk to
To nominate a good neighbour, (adult or young person), simply fill in a nomination form which is available from Pioneer House or can be downloaded from the Resources section at the top right of this page. Nominations for the award should reach Howard Cottage by 30th August 2012.

All entries will be judged by our Resources team and the winner will receive our 2012 Good Neighbour of the Year award along with a prize.

Congratulations to our Neighbour of the Year 2011. Mrs Sadie Jones collected her award at our involved residents event in October.  Her award nomination was accompanied by the signatures of all residents of her sheltered scheme at Macfadyen Webb House, Letchworth.

‘Sadie Jones is 90 next month, but nothing is too much trouble for her,’ explained Mrs Flack, who organised the nomination. ‘She collects prescriptions and does shopping for neighbours who can’t get out. And she’s always cooking and taking things to people who aren’t well. She is a truly wonderful neighbour!’
