Applying for a home in North Herts
All social housing in North Hertfordshire is allocated through the Home4U choice based lettings scheme. If you want to apply for housing, or you are already a tenant of a social landlord and wish to move home, you need to make an application to Home4U.
Home4U is operated in partnership by Howard Cottage, North Herts Homes and North Herts District Council, who work together as the North Herts Housing Partnership. The Partnership holds one common register and assesses applicants according to one common housing allocation policy. The partner to whom you apply will be responsible for registering and assessing your housing application.
Once you have made an application to Home4U, your housing need will be assessed and you will be awarded a housing preference band and points depending on how high your need is. You will be sent confirmation of your banding, with further details of the scheme, your log in details and how you can place bids for accommodation.
For details of the common housing allocation policy please refer to the Common Housing Allocation Scheme document within the Resources section of this page (top right).
If you are unsure of how the scheme operates or need assistance in applying, please contact our customer services team who will be happy to assist you.
