Rent increases information
Michelle Cross, Finance and Resources Director at Howard Cottage Housing Association, said: "Like all organisations, to remain viable in the long term, we have to ensure that what we charge our residents keeps up with inflation. If we failed to do that, we wouldn’t be able to invest in maintaining our existing properties and building new homes for the future.
"We work out the rent adjustment using a pre-set formula. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality, affordable homes to meet the housing needs of local people. The average rent on one of our three-bedroom homes in Letchworth will increase in April from £107.83 to £112.64 – that's still well below the cost of renting a similar-sized property privately in Letchworth.
“We provide a wide range of support services to our residents, including our Money Advice service and our Tenancy Support service, and we have strong links with the Black Squirrel Credit Union and other advice agencies. If any of our residents need support, they should contact our Resident Services team on 01462 683307.”
